Christoph Schilling already dealt in 1999 with Friction Stir Welding, which was hardly known in Germany at that time.
As a member of international expert groups at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht he developed fundamental optimization of the welding process, which lead to five patent applications.
Since 2003 Schilling worked as a managing partner for a company dealing with the industrial use of Friction Stir Welding. He was responsible for project- and production management.
In 2011, the change over to the new established RRS Schilling GmbH, Schwarzenbek near Hamburg took place. With a sharpened scope of service it offers Friction Stir Welding for aluminum components in serial production.
